The devil of this detail is the spelling of his name. You're referring to a completely different thing when you speak of Chronus, opposed to the Cronus you so obviously were meant to be commenting on and the conversation was centred on at that point. So you may have the knowledge to know the difference between Chronus and Cronus in a purely Greek Pantheon sense however in this conversation you were indeed incorrect. Unless of course you wish to claim you were inserting a completely new strain of conversation about an unsourced media being known as Chronus?
In which case.. as you were.

Why, yes.. yes, I was.
I mean, he clearly is not a Titan, nor a god. Just a fat man possessed by a glorious being.

lol, well Semper, one point of contention is that his name in greek mythology is spelled Chronos at times and Cronos at times depending on who interpreted the original Latin. The mode of spelling is an english translation of the original Latin which while very similar, are not the same and are therefore open to interpretation. We don't typically speak in Latin these days as it is a dead language, if we did, we would all call butts the Gludious Maximus. We sometimes use Latin in modern language in areas like medicine, but not much elsewhere. Anywho, my point is that it is actually correct either way due to the fact that the spelling is open to interpretation as we do not spell it the same way that it was spelled in ancient greece either way. ;) And in ancient greek Chronos was considered the Titan or god of time. Hence that we refer to the passing of events as being in chronological order. This is a reference to Chronos (or Cronos if you prefer) and was named for him. :)

I still think Telchek was a System lord. After all, System lords have Jaffa, and Anubis waged war with Telchek and his armies for the Ancient device that he used to create the sarcophagus.

Yes, it has been evident that Ba'al is the best System Lord since Continuum at the latest. None of the other Goa'uld could have come up with a plan like that and get away with it - well, almost.
Moreover he is the only one I can think of who more or less acknowledges that he is not a god. ;-)

Setesh does not say he is a god either. Nor does Hathor, after a first misunderstanding. :P

Huh, I will need to watch that episode again, but I am pretty sure that he does refer to himself as a god. I know that they say throughout history, there is the cult of Setesh in one facet or another. Well, while there may be a cult of Ra, you don't have the cult of the High Priest of Ra. That idea in and of itself eludes to the idea that he is referring to himself as a god. Like I said, will have to watch the episode again to see if he actually calls himself a god, but I think he did.

No, there 'always' is a cult where Setesh is the central figure, but not as Setesh.
Typhon in Greece, an unnamed sage (note, not a god) in Stonehenge; and the compound-cult in Seattle does not revere Setesh as a god, although they do worship him as one would worship a hero or demigod.
Basically, the 'next incarnation' of Setesh would have been a pop star or guru, like that Deepak Chopra dude.

Being officially a System Lord (although not in command of anything but his private small army of fanatics), he did portray a god back in Ancient Egypt, but he has had no need to present himself as such since. His use of the Nish'ta makes it unnecessary, as his followers will do his bidding blindly whether he presented himself as a sewer rat or as a glorious appearance of the Lord Himself. ;)

ok, I have to correct my post because I do remember a scene where Baal says that he is a god - but (that is my personal opinion) with lots of sarkasm. I mean the scene when Sam tries to activate the ancient weapon of Dakara ("Reckoning, Part 2" 8x17) and Baal as a hologram (or whatever that is) wants to help her (and himself as he is a Goa'uld, who would never do anything without having personal benefits therefrom).

So I think that he knows he is not a god and just says it because it amuses himself. Other Goa'uld see the Tauri just as trouble makers who must be either anihilated or enslaved. Baal has the greatest style in appearence and he puts his plans into action cleverly.

The only thing that makes Seth a noteworthy Goa'uld is the joke about his guards, that is told be Teal'C in 3x02 "Seth".

I would have never thought of that. But when you are online next time maybe you may give us some reasons. ;-)
