The reason players don't bother you on Abyddos is they are so far ahead of you, a new player has no chance of ever catching up without spending a ton of money.
On Chulak, a new player can start today and can reach the top 10% of players in a couple months if the play smart.
Look at Voldy. He started on Chulak then quit, reset, came back, went on vacation. He really only has about 1 month of semi-active play and is a System Lord. He never spent any money either. THAT is why Chulak is better for both new and old players.
Even a brand new player has NOTHING to fear from older players on Chulak. All they need to know is:
1. Be active.
2. Place 100 space mines and 100 turrets on every planet
3. Stick to non-gated planets
Sure there are other factors such as race/personality/stance and so forth, but if they follow those 3 tips, they'll be MUCH better off on Chulak.

yes they wont catch up on Abydos for a very long time but they can enjoy playing with the smaller guys and compete against them.
chulak yes they can catch up real fast but they can get smashed down jut as fast and that might put new players of with building quickly then getting smashed quickly.
either way he can have a crack at both servers and play them both, most of us play both servers and if you happen to get owned on one server, you will at least have the other server as well to fall back on.
