I disagree, Alliances SHOULD STAY, I also agree that the number of members should be upped, but not 50, maybe 20 at the most.

I like the alliance system.
It hasn't been touched in a million years though so why not try fixing it before just getting rid of it?

Funnily enough I wouldnt mind alliances being taken away.... Alliances are growing big and I don't even know all the members of my alliance anymore.. Ability to stop reinforcing isnt a bad idea as means people have to play more tactically and no alliances doesnt mean you cant have alliances. Just means more friendly fire incidents lol.

is this a joke? remove alliances will kill the game for everyone and I will go on a killing spree and order all my guys to go bully every small player and wipe them out the game, i mean take out alliances and kill game may aswell finish it off and make sure the rest of the players quit aswell right?

So basically if you don't get your way you kill the game yourself?

The fix is Races, if you are an Asgard then you can only be in a Asgard group.
With the added races and other race specific adv/tech/bonus's people are going to figure out how to put together the PERFECT group with a mixed of races> someone mentioned WOW, when you raid you have tanks/fighters and medics< just examples.
Is that how we want this to turn out? Beside a few examples in Stargate of several races alining them selfs this is supposed to be like 1000 years before SG1. I hope Shadowing keeps the race characters forced into sides of the same kind.

I'm torn on this one, on the one hand alliances of some sort will exist in any game, and it can be vital to the social aspect of a game; on the other hand, I feel that the huge multi-alliances do ruin the game to some extent. It turns it into a huge mexican stand off, where no one ever does much for fear of irritating a group so large they cant even keep track of it. People speak about it constantly. At the least it needs to be changed, Its a giant confusing mess the way it is.
I saw some people saying 50 people per alliance, that seems like way too much to me. 20 seemed reasonable. If you were thinking of going the larger alliance, war-lockout way. I think the current system needs to die though.
I like the idea about just doing away with it and setting up a personal war system though, could be fun; It seems like it'd make the game more about fighting other players, highlighting the progression aspect of the game, less about politics, giving us all more freedom to actually do things.

Why not increase the number of people allowed in each alliance ?
It would help clean-up all the sister alliances and confusing relationships.
