can we get rid of them? they stagnate the game and are unrealistic.

Alliances aren't unrealistic...

What would you call the System Lords Council, then?

It makes perfect sense to have smaller groups of goa'uld quasi-working together. It happened all the time in the Stargate movies AND series.

And, just like happens in game, they frequently switch alliances and then turn around and war on their former allies.

sister alliance is just the same as having allies makes no difference and makes the game more fun with more alliance around.

better to have more alliances for people to join as gives new guys more of a chance than being alone.

The game was just "ok" for me until I joined my first alliance. Then I was fighting side by side with people, coming to their aid, having them come to mine, and it made the game infinitely better.

I think if you get rid of alliances people will still make them informally.

Removing alliances is not a much option but you could make them smaller.

make them bigger if anything, and making them smaller is even more useless will just create a lot more sister alliances.
