I would like to send my fleet close to the star in order that enemy's sensor will not catch me.If it will work , it will be really nice in the game tactics .
i really understand what you like about the idea. for the attacker it is a very nice way of maximizing your winning chances but you also have to think about the disadvantages. just think about it as a defender... imagine you look at your planets and everything is allright but in the same moment a huge fleet is as close to your planet as it can be without being noticed by your sensors. so one moment later all of your defence is gone and all your res and naq with it. of course it is the same with attacks through the gate but the ships are much more powerful and the threat is much higher. so i think being able to send ships everywhere would lead to a great insecurity and a decrease in well-being playing this game. but of course this is just how i feel about it. :-)

I have mixed feelings on this. I love the idea that you could put them anywhere on the map. As an attacker that would be great. I can see this being a problem for some defenders though. I think there needs to be a way to balance the pros and cons of it. Maybe attacks not from planet to planet ex. Space battles, space to planet are less effective somehow. I like the idea that I could hid my forces and build them up over time and out of sight. Start passing ideas around and maybe we could list the pros and cons of it.

only works if the map was much, much larger.
so large that planets aren't directly nect to each other and there is a vast enough space between to "hover" without making a rallypoint on someone's door step (orbit).

what i suggest is how the ships traveled in the shows. they had very vast gaps between jumps.

i like the idea, but you have to work out the exploitation kinks before implementing into game.

redirecting fleet from planet to planet without fully attacking (unless click "attack enemy fleet" or "attack base" button) like in astroempires would work well.

I think this is a great idea. It would change dynamics of the game. For instance, I would be able to build my fleet close to an enemy planet, wait for reinforcements and attack. (Would require some planning for all players to arrive on enemy planet at the same time.)

This could also be used as a bluff, keeping a stronger player's fleet closer to home.

I do agree that these ships should be allowed to be attacked. There should also be a way to identify who they belong to.

Do it. It will make it more realistic.

Personally I enjoy a tactic of staging troops and ships on a vacant planet near my target for two reason.

Can decrease travel time.

Also, by doing so you are attacking from a vacant planet and thus not giving away the location of one of your own planets to the enemy. :)

Yes, I think you should be able to cruise around in your mothership without having to stop at a world, would make great RP too. Maybe have a closer up flight view in Galaxy mode too? Useing waypoints for directions?

i think this is a great idea but i would add 1 crucial thing that they can only be detected by another players ships and only that player would know there there and the detection would be determined by a sensor that could be increases in range with adv tech and a separate tech that decreases the range u have to be in to detect for the defending party would be great for hiding your forces and laying ambushes and great for others to roam round the galaxy with high tuned sensors aearching for hidden ships to pirate

(Joe12 makes an interesting case.) I like the idea of greater control over my fleet. Stopping in empty space, changing directions in flight besides reverse in direction and attacking ships in flight.
