Ships and Chips?

The Anciet city ships were meant to be the pinacle of space ship technology ever used. Think about it, an entire city with its own weapons, hyperdrive and a fleet of smaller craft that has the capability to be 3 times more powerful than any other vessel we've known (3ZPM's)

yes but it didn't make sense that it wasn't able to be airtight and fly through space without a shield like the other ships. it should have had  shutters that rolled over and covered the windows and outer doors to make it space worthy.    ;)

I don't see how that's relevant really? It wouldn't exactly be difficult to do that, besides it has it's shields. ALL ships need their shields otherwise they're often just scrap.

all ships do need shields but the crew wont die just cause the shields are turned off. in atlantis they would while in space.

Would they? Are you going off the unrepaired 10,000 year old Atlantis or the fully working, top of the line space city dreadnought? TBH, the point I was making is that without it's shields any ship is incredibly exposed, so in a situation where it counts (Atlantis is rarely in space, so would often only be fighting from atmosphere) then any ship without its shields is nigh on deadded.

I totally agree!! the tau'ri have the entire ancient database and all asgard knowledge. They could build massive ships and dominate everyone. Also, I think they should colonize other worlds to gather more resources. That would be necessary for huge scale ship building.
