it was connected to the platform by a long power cable which disconnected after a certain height was reached.

Correct.

The leaked plans for season 6 of atlantis were out on the web and gateworld a while back. I seem to remember the Asgard and Weirs group of replicators were going to resurface. I think the asgard were meant to be the 'big bads' of that season though and they hinted at the aliens from the Deadalus variations making an appearance too.

No way! SGU was a brilliant idea.. it was just executed poorly. If they had kept Atlantis going they would not have alienated so many of their loyal fans. If Syfy had marketed and placed it properly rather than late on a friday night (which is often viewed as a bad time slot as people are generally out or in bed doing other things on a friday night) it would have retained viewers and perhaps even gained a few more, especially after the success of the new BSG.

Finally their only other flaw with SGU was no firm villain. I can't stress how important a good villain is..

I have to agree with Rumo. More of SGA would have been much better than this soap opera in SGU. At the beginning it seemed to become a good new series with lots of new ideas but ,yes, it was executed poorly. I really wish to see the final defeat of the wraith. :'-)

Sorry but they are not going to get rid of the wraith, only the replicators :)

I know, I watched all SGA episodes several times. This topic is about stories, that are untold partly because Stargate ends for financial reasons much too early and partly because they were not thought to an end. So it is our desire to see all the things that were planed but not realized and things that were never planed but would have been cool ideas.

I think it would be a shame if they told us everything, because this way you can imagine further stories yourself. The authors sometimes didn't take themselfs seriously. That's a reason too, why some stories are not further told.

But there is another race nobody ever heard of again: the gadmeer. In SG1 S04E09. Scorched Earth
They look quite different but far developed.

By the way i think the way the tollans were eliminated was a little bit unreal... how the hell could simple Goa'uld crush a so advanced race? And why didn't the Nox help?!

I totally agree but I have to add that another reason of the defenselessness of the tollans was their arrogance. they rested on their laurels and were too arrogant to see their weaknesses and they were dazzled by their own technological superiority (or better the seeming of superiority).

You are both right, but i think if they were able to build their own Stargate they were highly developed. You could've thought that one day a ascended being would come improve the Goa'uld shield and than attack the tollans?! They were simply not prepared and as you said too arrogant.

And one other thing which came into my mind today is strange. There is a episod, where Carter helps an alien in a space race... Why are there no futher relationships, technology transfer and stuff?
btw this episode is cool ;)
