What's the "old war system"?

Just because you guys are losing doesn't mean alliances are bad, it just means you gotta step up your game. And how have we come to the assumption that the old one is better? Why is it safe to assume that since I'm the only one that commented on your pointless forum posts that I'm the only one that disagrees?
